Oi Play – OTT Video App

Oi Brazil with 74m customers, is the largest telecommunications company in Brazil and Latin America.


Working closely with our content technology vending partner Vubiquity, Computer Rock were challenged to improve, enhance and simplify the existing customer experience on film and video for one of their largest global customers Oi in Brazil.

Oi, the largest telecoms company in South America with 74m customers wanted the first phase of their new services across all mobile platforms including iOS, Android, mobile to be live in 4 months ! This first phase of delivery on SVOD for movies and TV series would also include a suite of added value services including integrated PPV (Pay per view ) and EPG ( electronic programing guide ) all underpinned with a sophisticated recommendation and user profile engine.

This suite of new and enhanced film and video media services focused around the consumer will form the basis of a longer term extension into TVOD, all purposed to extend reach and drive long term media consumption revenues


With a well-established working relationship with Vubiquity, Computer Rock were able to deploy their hybrid agile development process to maximum efficiency. Establishing a strategic understanding of the client’s present operational environment enabled CR to define the optimum client solution and build an architectural solution that allowed for rapid deployment of phase 1 services with the ability to integrate longer term upgrades as part of an integrated client road map.

While defining this base solution we parallel tracked the optimum consumer experience across all touch points to ensure a singular view of the consumer and their viewing habits across multiple platforms. This was then integrated with Vubiquity’s CaaS content provisioning platform to ensure the client Oi had a single point of contact for accountability and delivery. In an agile and fluid technology world driven by consumer demand for content and services, efficiency and elegance of delivery are key to maximise our client market opportunities. Delivery of this first phase on Oi was a perfect case study of partner technology integration combined with delivery of an intuitive consumer content discovery and consumption media experience.
